Definition of Data Mining: the practice of examining large databases in order to generate new information/insights
We have the right to analyze non-identifiable information on our system to produce benchmarks and statistic. E.g., calculating the % of startups in Canada in different industry verticals.
Data mining algorithms operate on an anonymized data set that:
- Does not include any identifiable 'fingerprints'
- Excludes cases where there are not enough companies in a dataset
- Limits how fine-grained the time period of a query can be
